Miho - Sin City

Miho Sin City Cosplay
Miho is hands down my favorite character from Frank Miller's Sin City. She doesn't say much and she's an efficient killer. You don't mess with "Deadly Little Miho." I don't have much interest in the design from the movie version, but her comic book look is fantastic! I made a cosplay based on images from both "The Big Fat Kills" and "Family Values." She appears to wear a shorter version of a traditional Japanese jacket and kataginu with jeans. And based on a colored page from "The Big Fat Kill," she has a white sash.

Ibuki Street Fighter Cosplay

Ibuki Street FIghter Cosplay
Ibuki (???) is such a cutie! I first heard of this character from the Pocket Fighter video game on Playstation. She's a kunoichi (female ninja) who has an interest in boys and finds herself torn between being a great fighter and a normal teenage girl. I think it's charming. :) For this shoot, I waited until the cherry blossoms were in bloom in our area and I wasn't disappointed! It was great fun to get out and climb trees and relax under the blossoms.

The hardest thing about this costume was Ibuki's gravity defying ponytails. It took me a while to come up with the concept, but my beau thought of using feathers after looking at Chinese Opera costumes. I took a small amount of long black synthetic hair and affixed them to a long feather that I dyed black. The feather acted as a base to keep the hair from coming apart and gave the whole ponytail a realistic bounce without being heavy. Ta-da! Effortless, bouncy hair! I'm ready to go fight!

Ada Wong Resident Evil 6

Ada Wong Resident Evil 6 Cosplay

Ada Wong
is back for me! She's bringing back Neo-Umbrella in the 6th game of the series and is sporting a new look as well. I attended the Resident Evil 6 Launch Party in Hollywood and came in this cosplay. It was a spectacular event hosted by IGN.com and I even got some photos with cosplayers and RE developers, too! Yeah! And yes, that is a pic of me with Resident Evil producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi!

Instead of her iconic gown, Ada's red and black theme is redone with this black button-down with leather pants. Most of this I was able to pull out of my closet. I created the blue cube and the necklace to match the night before the event.

I have to apologize about the camera. At the event, my flash batteries died and even though we did this impromptu shoot at midnight outside the club, the lack of light was really killing us. So, I apologize ahead -- but I suppose on one hand, the noise rather adds to the grittiness of RE, don't you think?

Roxy Freefall Gen13 Cosplay
Roxy Freefall Gen13 Cosplay

Roxy Spaudling aka Freefall
is a character from a mid-nineties comic book series called Gen13. Originally published by the now defunct Wildstorm and co-created by Jim Lee, Brandon Choi & J. Scott Campbell. I always loved her look and JUST RECENTLY read the comic books (despite having known of the series since I was a child.) I enjoyed it and was encouraged by my friend Roxy Lee to cosplay her. The rest is history. :D

Roxy's outfit is pretty much stuff you can find out of your closet..unlike most super heroes! However, to achieve the comic-book look, I customized a latex cat-suit. I loved the shiny outcome! Instead of black-on-black, I used the reference image above and picked out the perfect purple faux leather jacket. I dyed my own hair and that's pretty much it! Oh, and I haven't worn slouch socks since I was a kid! YAY!

Ada Wong Resident Evil Biohazard Cosplay
Ada Wong Resident Evil Cosplay

Ada Wong
is a character you either love or you hate. She never plays for any one side and I will never, NEVER understand how one fights zombies in heels. Nonetheless, I love her look and I love her style.

Working with silk is a challenge because getting the slippery fabric to hug the body is just no fun. The embroidery work is not my own. Definitely needed help there. I've had to go through two alterations with this dress but finally -- I think I got a winner. I picked up a simple gun holster that wouldn't block my entire leg from the side from a surplus store and fashioned straps that velcroed around the thigh. It stayed up pretty darn well.

Chun Li Street Fighter Cosplay
Chun Li Cosplay

Chun-li
was the first female character I loved from video-games. Who didn't love her spinning-bird kick?! This cosplay led to my first professional gig and I had a great time.

The dress is made from a shiny, metallic nylon/spandex fabric with yellow appliques to match. Made the bun-covers and hand-painted them.
I created the bracelets from rolls of tape and cake-frosting tips (and it looked pretty leathal!) At comic-con, I wore silver-painted boots which were more true to
character, but for the show I wore huge, white go-go boots!

Poison Street Fighter Final FIght Cosplay
Poison Street Fighter Cosplay

When I heard that Poison's win pose in Final Fight was of hopping onto her whip and doing a pole-dance pose, it was only a matter of time. A realatively easy cosplay to throw together with the exception of manipulating the metal chains. The best part? Gigantic pink wig. :)

Psylocke Cosplay
Psylocke X-Men Cosplay

My first cosplay in my life had to be Psylocke! She's been my favorite super-hero since I was a child. However, I have no idea how I managed to wear something so daring for my first cosplay experience. Yeesh! However, the outfit is comfortable enough to potentially kick ass in. :) We never did a formal shoot in this costume so all these photos are from SDCC.

And for my first year experience, I had a BLAST. WHY? I got to meet both Chris Claremont and Milo Manara! That year, they had worked on the highly anticipated X-Women issue. So gorgeous. :)

This outfit was created for me by the lovely Lucy Horral of Pie-Designs.
